With the capacity of our rice mills, we have enough rice husk to be used for power generation from the power plant. This is beneficial terms of sustainable energy. It also reduces energy imports, reduces costs and is environmentally friendly. Additionally the government policies promote investment in the construction of biomass power plants. In 2003, Thaisaree Generating Co., Ltd. was established, in order to generate electricity using rice husk fuel. It has the net capacity of 6 megawatts and has generated and supplied electricity for the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) since November 2007.
Afterwards, we have constructed a second power plant, which has the capacity of 6 megawatts as well, under the name of T.S. Power Plant Co., Ltd. It has been supplying electricity for the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) alongside with Thaisaree Generating Co., Ltd. since October 2015.
The process of electricity generation starts with pumping untreated water from natural water sources. It is filtered before entering the steam generator. The husk is transported to the grinder to be grinded. The grinded husk is then sent to combustion chamber. The combustion process generates high heat. The heat helps the water in the steam generator to evaporate. This high pressure steam rotates the turbine of the generator, which generates electricity. The steam is then condensed back into water and used several times. Finally, the water is treated again to a standard that was not toxic to the environment and released into a large pond for the water to be evaporated naturally.
That is why the water that has been used in the production process of our biomass power plants does not have any negative effects on the environment. The rice husk ash that is produced during the combustion does not damage the environment either. This is because it is trapped using high-static electrostatic dust trap. That is how it is assured that no dust can escape and disturb the neighborhood. Moreover, rice husk ash can be used for many purposes. For example, it can be used as a soil quality modifier or in the cement and construction industry.
